Free advice and guidance for schools

Catalyst holds the STEMPOINT contract for Wiltshire and Swindon, providing brokerage services for STEM Enhancement and Enrichment (E&E).

Through this we have a responsibility to provide all schools and colleges with impartial advice and guidance on a wide range of STEM E&E activities, helping identify the best opportunities to inspire young people in STEM.

We can suggest ideas for:

visits and visitors, including STEM Ambassadors
competitions
careers materials
classroom and extracurricular activities
projects and collapsed curriculum days
funding sources.

Our advice covers activities listed in the STEM Directories as well as other regional and local provision.

STEM Ambassadors

In addition to providing advice and information, we also manage the STEM Ambassadors programme. STEM Ambassadors are everyday people from real working backgrounds who volunteer their time for free to act as inspiring role models to young people.

They provide a refreshing change to regular lessons and activities and open the door to a whole new world for young people, helping them to see STEM subjects and careers with a fresh perspective and engage their interest and imagination in new ways.

Each Ambassador is registered, trained and CRB checked. Nationally there are over 19,000 Ambassadors. In Wiltshire and Swindon, there are now over 200 Ambassadors ready to work with schools. To find out more or to book, visit our STEM Ambassadors FAQ page.
