We are delighted to welcome enthusiastic new Ambassador, Colin White, on board. Colin, who has worked in a range of roles in research and development, has also recently trained as a Careers Advisor and has developed a careers session with a difference.
Lasting 45 minutes to an hour, he leads structured group discussions on future job scenarios. This means looking at current jobs through a quiz and then asking students ‘What if...’ questions to suit particular science or engineering and technology topics – for example, ‘What if there was no oil ?’ Classes involved to date have engaged in lively discussion and learned a lot about careers in STEM that they hadn’t previously considered.
The session is suitable for Years 9 to 11 and could be used in extra-curricular clubs or lessons. Colin can tailor the session to suit teachers’ needs. If you are interested, contact info@gocatalyst.co.uk and we will put you in touch.
As well as Colin, many of our STEM Ambassadors are available to talk about their careers, the industry they work in and what qualifications and experience are needed.
