Greendown Community School, Swindon

The school is planning to enter the First Lego League UK competition (www.firsthandtechnology.org.uk) in the Autumn term with the newly formed STEM club.  They would appreciate some support and guidance for the club, to help design and build the Lego Mindstorm constructions and prepare them for the competition on 25th November.  Any Ambassador with Mindstorm or FLL knowledge would be very welcome.

Ambassadors needed to assist with Bug Robot Building with new Engineering diploma students. The venue will be the De Vere at Shaw Ridge from 11.45 - 12.45. There will be around 24 students and they would welcome some short careers input too.

Hardenhuish School is organising a Year 11 maths enrichment events for all interested students in Salisbury and would like several Ambassadors to come and talk about what they do and how they use maths in their jobs. They would like 3 x 20 minute talks and will pay tavelling expenses.

The school is planning a day of Engineering Thrills - to design an ejection seat fairground ride. They would like the ambassadors to introduce the ideas relating to forces and rigid structures and then to be on hand to advise each group.  You do NOT have to be an expert, but an engineer would help. There will be 210 students working in groups of 5 so they would like the support of 4 or 5 Ambassadors, who would then judge the best designs in terms of construction and engineering ability.

The school would like to run a Year 6 Bloodhound Supersonic Car project. They would like an ambassador could go into the school to launch the project during science week in 2011. Additional help with activities in school would also be appreciated, if they're on offer.

Abbeyfield School, Chippenham
Dates to suit ambassador

The school would like Ambassadors to support Year 11 Science week in September.   They would like the students to get an understanding of a 'scientists' day to day work, and how they use science in their job.   This would be presented in the form of a lectures to 3 classes or visits to individual classes.  Forensic science, food science and sports science are the main priorities but any exciting science would be welcome

Matravers School, Westbury

The school would like some Ambassadors to come into Year 10 Science lessons to talk about their careers, to link science to the real world. Talks would only need to be around 30 minutes.

The school would also like some Ambassador support for their STEM club held after school.

St Joseph's Catholic School, Salisbury
Dates to suit ambassador

Students studying Additional Applied Science have to write a work related report on a scientist in action, as part of their coursework.  The school would like an Ambassador to fill this role by giving a talk about their job, including the personal, scientific and technical skills required.  A popular student choice would be a forensic scientist, but all offers would be appreciated.
